For two weeks in October, students at Madison Elementary School went to “war” using pennies and coins.  “The Penny War was conducted by fourth grade teacher, Mrs. Fetchko and members of the Student Council,” reports Principal, Breanne Willms.

Students brought in coins and put them in classroom bins.  A second grade class and fourth grade class earned an ice cream sundae party for winning the Penny Wars.

The students raised $259.29 which will be sent to the Red Cross in response to the recent hurricanes.

"Our students for worked hard to raise these funds.  They are very aware of the struggles people are facing in Florida and the Carolinas. We’re proud that they wanted to help!” said Mrs. Fetchko.
